We all woke up on a cool Saturday and started eating our breakfast of grain, hay and grass. The grain tasted extra good this morning, but I didn’t know why. Louie told everyone when he was done eating there would be a meeting, so don’t go far! Knowing the way Louie eats that could be another hour, but we all decided we would delay our grass grazing until after the meeting. We all wondered what else could be going on. Sometimes Louie is told when changes were being made, but not all the time. He seemed a little grumpier than usual, so it probably meant more work for him, which meant more work for us! He finally finished his hay and told everyone to gather around. Monty was smiling so I had a good idea what Louie was going to say. Louie announced that the team was once again growing as we were getting a new recruit that would be Monty’s responsibility to train. Sure enough, my brother Grayson was being promoted to the boy’s herd! I was so excited and so proud of him. I knew he was working hard to complete his training. I am sure mom is proud too but probably a little sad. She knows Monty and I will take good care of him, but he has been with her for 10 months now, literally since the moment he was born. I remember when I was promoted at the other ranch. Sure, I had all my friends with me like Nico, Tali, and Maserati, but it was very scary leaving mom! I really missed her a lot because we were moved to the other side of the ranch, so I couldn’t even see her. At least Grayson will be able to see her and he has hid dad and me to take care of him. After Louie’s meeting, Monty huddled with Tali, Maserati and I, just going through Grayson’s onboarding plan. He wanted to make sure there would be no hazing or wrestling with him. He reminded everyone Grayson is still very young and he could get hurt by accident, since we are all stronger than he is. Everyone nodded and the plan was ready. Soon we could see Grayson being haltered and over he came with his personal belongings. He was a little nervous, but we knew he was ready. It was time for the move. I would sit and watch him over the last few weeks pacing at the fence and thankfully because of his hard work and good attitude he got the promotion he deserved! I could see mom and the girls were a little sad, but they were also happy because together they brought him up despite dealing with tragedies. It takes a whole herd to bring up a Cria and they did a wonderful job with him. I personally watched his wrestling moves that Coco had trained him one and he was very good at it! The girls knew our team would take great care of him and he would be safe! I smiled at mom and winked at her letting her know I would protect my baby brother no matter what. I think that made her smile too! We are all so happy to start a new chapter with my brother Grayson! I can't wait to get started TODAY!
